It’s Time to ‘Think Different’ About Back Pain

Apple CEO Tim Cook has noticed a new phenomenon around Apple Park Headquarters.  The latest versions of Apple Watch remind its wearer to stand up more often.  Ten minutes before the hour it will remind you to move.  “We have a lot of people using the Apple Watch at Apple, and 10 minutes before the hour, suddenly they all get up and move. It took a little to get used to, but it’s great.”

This is a welcome iPhone feature for back pain sufferers and the clinicians who treat them.  The medical community recognizes the unhealthy link between a sedentary lifestyle and complications that lead to neck and back pain.

Traction on the Move

Dr. Arieh Grober, the founder of Meditrac Spinal Clinic, says the time is right for his active physical rehabilitation program, the traction on the move concept.  Meditrac pioneered the therapeutic program, which integrates a portable cervical or lumbar spine traction unit with an innovative physical therapy program.  This allows patients to be physically active while receiving decompression to the spine.

If you are not familiar with the Meditrac devices, the concept is an innovation in neck and back pain treatment, surgery and drug-free.  The patient actively participates in treatment, being free to stand and even do exercises during treatment, allowing for an accelerated recovery.  The patient is encouraged to take part in active rehabilitation.

Furthermore, the Vertetrac performs decompression to the spine in 3-D, a feature that does not exist in other devices. Traction options include vertical, horizontal, symmetrical and asymmetrical.

And finally, the devices do not occupy floor space at clinics like the big decompression tables, so clinics can treat several patients simultaneously.

 Get Moving!

Apple Headquarters is one of the more prominent companies to understand the impact a healthy work environment can have on the health of the people who work there.  This trend is picking up steam as more and more back and neck pain sufferers see the link between a sedentary lifestyle and their discomfort.  Traction on the Move is an easily understood concept for patients and a proven winning strategy for treatment providers.
